Lecture and hybrid hands-on workshop by Dr. Silvia Piccini (CNR-IT)

The TALOS laboratory (Horizon ERA Chair TALOS AI4SSH) and the Department of Philology are pleased to host two events in English with Dr. Silvia Piccini, researcher at the Istituto di Linguistica Computazionale "Antonio Zampolli" of the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR), Italy.

  • Title: "Saussure's Terminology: formalizing a Paradigm Shift in Science on the Semantic Web"

  • Abstract: This presentation will examine the key aspects of Ferdinand de Saussure's terminology work and its formalization in the onto-terminological resource SIMPLE_FdS. The architecture of this resource is largely based on the SIMPLE model and is rooted in Pustejovsky's generative lexicon theory. The presentation will also address the challenges and solutions for representing the diachronic aspects of this terminology within the context of semantic web technologies.

  • Abstract: This hands-on workshop focused on the formalization of domain knowledge by means of the software Protégé, with a special emphasis on modelling the linguistic dimension through the OntoLex-Lemon model. This hands-on session will guide participants through the principles and practical applications of OntoLex-Lemon, a de facto standard in Computational Lexicography to build linked data-based lexicographic resources in accordance with Semantic Web technologies.
