Dimitris Polychronakis is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Crete. He studied Philology at the University of Crete (BA 1993) where he also completed his postgraduate studies in Modern Greek Studies (MA 1995) and his Ph.D. (2000) in the field of Modern Greek Literature. Since 2003 he is teaching at the University of Crete.

His research interests lie in the era of the 18^th

to the 20^th century, focusing on issues related to European and Greek Enlightenment, the poetry and the prose of Romanticism, the literary critique and the aesthetics of the 19^th and 20^th century, comedy and satire, realism, naturalism, symbolism, modernism, surrealism and modern literary theory
